Gibson / Kochanek was set up by two award-winning photographers based in Birmingham.
Over the past 2,5 years, both Photographers have built a good reputation and a strong relationship with their clients. They finally decided to merge their businesses and continue as a team. Having a strong background and much experience, they provide their clients with a professional and confidential service that captures them in their daily environment or within a studio space, in a sensitive and efficient manner.
Marta and Barbara choose the fast developing, vibrant and inspiring Birmingham as the city of their career and success. They strong believe in this city’s potential that let them explore their creativities and talents. As they treat Birmingham as their home abroad they are proud to be part of the generation that builds reputation of the city shaping the cultural landscape and creative explosion for the future. Being just only two years within the business they managed to attract such clients like Birmingham Royal Ballet, Colmore Business District but also leading local architects, interior designers and many more other creative businesses. Only recently both Marta and Barbara were called the next female photographers who makes the history of the city and so they were invited to develop photography project for the Library of Birmingham. Creativity on one side but the business development seems to be equally important and so they can be found around the city enjoying networking meet ups.
Marta Kochanek is a Portrait Photographer. During her continuing career, Marta was offered the opportunity to spearhead a large, independent archival project for Annie Leibovitz in New York in 2011. She then joined the Production Team and assisted Ms Leibovitz on set for shoots for Vogue and Vanity Fair. Her photographs have been shown several times in both group and solo exhibitions, including Mall Galleries in London, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the MAC - Birmingham, as well as Verge Art Brooklyn and Leslie & Lohman Museum in New York. In 2012, Marta was invited to join the Daegu Biennial in South Korea. Marta has received numerous honourable mentions both in national and international professional photographic competitions such as: Px3 Prix de la Photographie Paris, International Aperture Awards, International Photography Awards, as well as Art Kudos. Barbara Gibson is a Photographer and Photo-Researcher who mainly concentrates on Urban Photography. Ever since she can remember, other cultures and countries have fascinated her. She travels globally capturing unique images of places and people with an unique empathy. Long-term trips include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Mexico, Bolivia, Guatemala, Caribbean Islands and most of European countries - these came out of curiosity and an endless need to photograph. Awarded with an Art's Grant in 2013 to develop research and a photography project. She curates photography exhibitions and exhibits internationally her own works. Barbara won international recognition, when she has become a Finalist of Bursa Photo Fest in 2012. See more HERE.
